Walthamstow Wetlands Walk

Walthamstow Wetlands, 2 Forest Rd, London N17 9NH
Sunday 31st August, 2025 - 11:30 to 13:00

About this event

Join us for a refreshing and sociable walk through Walthamstow Wetlands, one of London’s most beautiful and unique green spaces. As one of Europe’s largest urban nature reserves, the Wetlands offer breathtaking views, peaceful reservoirs, and an abundance of wildlife, all just minutes from the city.

Meeting Point
We will meet at The Engine House Shop, next to the café and adjacent to the Walthamstow Wetlands Car Park. From here, our Haringey Circle team will give a short introduction before we set off together.

  • Address: 2 Forest Road, London N17 9NH
  • Buses nearby: 123 / 230 / W4
  • Nearest station: Tottenham Hale and/or Blackhorse Road (Victoria Line & Overground), approx. 10–15 mins walk on Forest Road.

Route Highlights

  • Walthamstow Wetlands – One of London’s largest urban wetland nature reserves, offering serene walking paths, lakeside views, and opportunities to spot herons, swans, and other wildlife.
  • Accessibility – The route is mostly flat and suitable for people of all abilities, including those with mobility constraints and wheelchair users. Because it loops, you are welcome to adjust the walk to your comfort and join for a shorter section.
  • Routes & Pace: You are very welcome to walk at a pace that suits you, or simply join us and see how you feel on the day:
    • Amblers and strollers will enjoy a gentle walk at a relaxed pace, with opportunities to pause, rest, and chat.
    • Striders will cover a little more ground at a brisker pace before reconnecting with the Amblers, so that we all finish together.

Weather & What to Bring

The forecast for Sunday 31 August 2025 in Walthamstow suggests a cool, clear start to the morning at around 14°C, gradually warming up through late morning. By the time of our walk, temperatures are expected to rise to around 20–21 °C, making for comfortable conditions. There may be a few light showers around midday, followed by mostly cloudy but dry weather into the afternoon. We therefore recommend to bring:

  • Comfortable walking shoes
  • A water bottle to stay hydrated
  • A light jacket or coat (and if you’re sensitive to the cold, and in case of light rain a scarf!)
  • Binoculars if you’d like to spot some birds or wildlife!

Capture the Beauty!
We’d love you to take photos of the landscape, wildlife, and special moments along the way. Share your favourites with us afterwards so we can feature them in our newsletters and social media.

See you there!
